Booking a Printer

All bookings must be made using your own Skedda account.

Once the face-to-face component of Level 2: 3D Printing Training (FDM) has been completed, you will receive a virtual equipment sticker for Skedda. This will give you access to book the Level 2 machines

Booking

Once your file has been sliced, a print time estimate will be given. Use this time to book your 3D Printing Session on Skedda.

Your booking time must equal the print time estimate

An automatic buffer time of 15 minutes will be created between bookings. This allows any material changes, calibrations & minor maintenance that may be required to ensure a successful print.

To ensure all level 2 staff & students have equal opportunities, do not book a printer until you have sliced your model.

Failure to do this may result in a suspension of access.

Booking will be covered further in the face to face component.

Booking Allowances

Standard maximum booking allowance per print job:

By default, all print bookings are capped at 12 hours. Prints exceeding 12 hours must be shown to a dFab staff member prior to booking.

Maximum weekly booking allowance:

To allow an equal opportunity to all users, the dFab Self Service FDM printers have a weekly print allowance of 24 hours. Once you have reached this quota you will be unable to book until the following week.

Overnight Prints

All prints that will run overnight must be started 1 hour before dFab's daily closure. This is to ensure the print runs smoothly overnight.

dFab Staff will check on the overnight prints prior to closing and if a print appears to be failing, the print will be aborted and you will be notified via email.
