Artec Eva / Space Spider Guide

1. Connect Scanner

  1. Connect Artec Power cable to battery pack

  2. Connect Battery pack to scanner

  3. Connect scanner to computer via usb

  4. Open ArtecStudio 17 Professional

  5. Save Project. File > Save Project / Ctrl + S

  6. Turn on battery pack

  7. Select the Scan tab

All scan files should be saved on the local disc. Do not save files to an external hard drive or network drive.

2. Scan

  1. Open the Scan side panel and adjust scan settings

  2. Aim the scanner at the object to be scanned

  3. Press the ▶ Record button to initiate preview mode.

  4. Make sure the object is visible in Artec Studio, then press ▶ Record again to begin recording the scan. If the object is not visible you may need to adjust

    1. the distance between the scanner & object

    2. lighting, ensure there is ample, indirect light on the object being scanned. Try to limit shadows cast on the object

    3. the location of the object

    4. object's surface finish, apply scanning spray if necessary

  5. Whilst completing the scan, watch the preview in Artec studio This will significantly reduce the likelihood of tracking issues & improve scan coverage.

  6. Once complete, press the ▣Stop button to end the scan recording. Scans will then be displayed in the Artec Studio list of scans.

A new scan can be completed by repeating the same procedure. As data is autosaving, we recommend waiting a few minutes between each scan.

Tracking Modes

  • Geometry + Texture, or hybrid (image & 3D data)

  • Geometry Only (no image/colour data. 3D data only)

Real-time Fusion

  • Generates a surface which can be exported immedatley after scanning
