Layer Height & Infill

Layer Height

Layer height refers to the thickness of each layer of a 3D print. The thinner the layer height, the higher the resolution of the print.

It is important to note low layer height (higher resolution) prints take significantly longer to print and are only necessary for highly complex geometries.

A higher layer height will result in improved mechanical properties as there are fewer joins (weak points where delamination may occur)

Infill

Infill is an internal structure used to fill your 3D print.

The density and pattern of infill can be varied depending on how strong your print needs to be.

Carefully consider whether you need to have a density greater than 20%, although increasing weight and strength, it will also increase both print time & material usage. For increased strength, additional Perimeter/wall loops (eg 4) will impact strength more than infill density.

Never complete a print with 100% infill.
