FDM Printer Use/ Print Cancellation Policy

This document highlights important information regarding the use of the FDM printers at dFab, in addition to the mandatory training provided for staff and students.

dFab Technical Staff reserve the right to cancel any print job that does not comply with the procedures set out in this policy.

  1. Prints commenced without having completed full training and registration with the online Skedda booking system will be cancelled.

  2. Staff will not commence FDM prints and do not take responsibility for failed prints as a result of;

    1. Insufficient material

    2. Inadequate supervision during the first Layer

    3. Inappropriate slicing settings

  3. dFab Staff monitor the printers to ensure safe operation and will immediately cancel a failing print that may result in damage to equipment or material wastage.

    If this occurs, dFab will notify the booking holder of the cancellation. It is the sole responsibility of that individual to complete the print at another available time.

    If an unforeseen event occurs, (such as mechanical failure) preventing a print job from completion, staff will endeavour to reschedule the print job as soon as possible.

  4. The printers are for MADA course/research work only, no personal printing is allowed at any time.

  5. There must be a record of equipment usage in the Skedda online booking system with accurate print time & correct booking holder

  6. Prints commenced later than 10 minutes after the scheduled booking time will be terminated. dFab will notify the booking holder of the cancellation.

  7. Only the booking holder or a dFab staff member can commence/terminate prints. If a machine is still printing when you arrive for your booking, contact dFab staff. Do not terminate the print.

Please refer to the dFab Inappropriate behaviour and Non-compliance Policy for full information about potential outcomes of inappropriate usage.
