3: Occupational Health, Safety and Environment
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) *
Whilst in the Digital Fabrication Workshop, the appropriate PPE must be worn.
Enclosed Footwear
Protective Gloves
- when handling sharp objects (eg; removing support)Eye Protection
- when handling volatile substances or performing tasks where small projectiles may pose a risk. (eg; removing support material, sanding)Face Mask | Respirator
- when handling substances with significant fumes, gas, vapour, dust or debris (eg; spray painting, foam cutting, soldering or sanding)
Workshop Safety Guidelines, Etiquette & Rules
Do not attempt to use tools, machines and/or equipment if you have not been instructed in their proper and safe operation.
Observe all signage and read SWI (Safe work instructions) where applicable.
Food/Drink is NOT allowed in the workshop. (Water bottles are allowed however must not be glass)
Access under the Influence of drugs or alcohol is NOT PERMITTED
Do not use faulty or ‘tagged out’ equipment.
Report faulty or damaged tools and equipment to dFab staff immediately.
Do not let anyone into the workshop - All users must enter with their own M-Pass
Be courteous and conscious of others working in the space
Follow the correct booking procedure for the use of equipment
Keep the workspaces tidy and clean up after yourself.
Use the bins and receptacles provided to dispose of all waste, offcuts and recyclables
First Aid and Incidents
All incidents & accidents MUST be reported to dFab staff immediately. A Safety and Risk Analysis Hub (S.A.R.A.H) incident report must also be completed.
Familiarise yourself with the location of first aid cabinets, OHS Notice Board & emergency exits
