Removal & Post Processing

Once a print has finished it must be removed in a timely fashion. Your print can be easily removed by removing the build plate from the printer and flexing it in multiple directions.

If you are unable to collect a print before another staff/student booking. A dFab staff member will remove your print from the machine. dFab is not responsible for any damage to prints during support removal

Correct print removal will be covered in more depth during the practical demonstration

Support Removal

To reduce the risk of injury and ensure equipment is maintained, Support Removal Kits can be collected from the dFab 3D Printing Counter.

The kit includes;

  • PPE: gloves and safety glasses

  • Removal Tools: Tweezers, Pliers & Longnose pliers,

Once supports have been removed, these kits must be returned. (Kits are fully cleaned and sanitized by dFab staff)

Filament Recycling

All support material, unsuccessful, or unwanted prints can be recycled at dFab. Take care to ensure you are placing the material in the correct bin.

Old FDM prints can be recycled if they have not been contaminated.

Painted, glued or filled prints cannot be recycled at dFab
