Metal Laser Cutting at dFab
The Bodor i5 Fibre Laser utilises a powerful laser source and high-pressure gas to pierce and cut through sheet and plate metal. Laser power, motion speed and gas pressure are tuned for specific metal thickness and properties to achieve high quality, accurate cutting.
Access & Training
dFab offers metal laser cutting via the online service bureau. All service bureau requests are processed by dFab staff. For Metal Laser cutting this includes; programming and cutting.
File Preparation & Set Up
All metal laser cutting files must be prepared in CAD software capable of exporting to .dxf. For those new to CAD, dFab recommends Adobe illustrator
or Rhino
as an introductory program.

Before submitting a request, ensure you have followed the above design guide and met all suitable file requirements.

The standard size for sheet metal is 2400 x 1200mm. Material supplied by MADA has been cut down to 1200 x 800mm sheets. If you require something larger than 1200mm (up to 1300mm) please discuss with dFab staff.

Payment
When Metal Laser Cutting, you will be charged both the the gas usage fee
& the Metal Sheet Price.
If you are supplying your own material, you will only be charged the gas usage fee.
Note the minimum payment for metal laser cutting is $10
